Even though his Twitter account was restored almost a week ago, former President Trump has yet to make a post on the platform. This is likely due to his boycott of Twitter, which started when he was originally banned.

However, inside sources claim this won’t last for too long and Trump will eventually cave and start using Twitter again. This isn’t that much of a surprise, seeing as he’d made several posts each day in the past.

Trump has yet to tweet after he was unbanned

As it turns out, the only reason he’s continuing his boycott is one last attempt to prevent his own social network, Truth Social, from crumbling down, a process which had already begun once Elon Musk acquired Twitter.

Despite all the hate he knew he’d get for it, Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, decided to unban Trump from the platform, an idea he’d been considering ever since he purchased Twitter.

Aside from Trump, the same thing was done for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kanye West, Kathy Griffin, and many more, save for Alex Jones who is still not allowed on the platform, according to Elon.

The eccentric tech magnate wanted to create an online platform where free speech is celebrated, rather than frowned upon. The return of these iconic faces is a testament to how well Musk implemented this idea into this new version of Twitter.

Trump needs Twitter to win in 2024

As for Truth Social, the platform was launched in February this year.

By August, it’d missed almost $2 million in payments to vendors. If that wasn’t enough, the company Trump is planning to merge with Truth Social is currently under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

At the time, Trump is the board chairman of the Trump Media and Technology Group, which requires him to post everything on Truth Social first before posting it elsewhere. While that wasn’t an issue up until recently, the former president may be eager to return to Twitter as soon as possible.

The massive amount of reach he’d have on Twitter is more than enough to lure him back to the platform, especially now that he’s announced his presidential campaign for the 2024 election.

Several of Trump’s former administration officials confirmed only a small number of die-hard fans actually switched to Truth Social when the platform was created, whereas the majority of conservative influencers remained on Twitter.

Trump will absolutely need access to Twitter if he’s looking to have a fighting chance in the 2024 election. He’d be missing out on a massive audience if he relegated all of his posts to Truth Social.

Until he makes his first tweet though, we can rest assured knowing his return will be a rather grand one, much like his departure from the White House, when he said goodbye to all of us while Sinatra’s “My Way” played.
