How can American Jews signal their revulsion with the Left’s growing anti-Semitism? Starting today: Stop voting Democrat.
Intellectual Milton Himmelfarb once quipped that “Jews earn like Episcopalians but vote like Puerto Ricans.” Jews should know better. Although they tend to be educated and affluent, Jews typically hand Democrats their votes.
Dominic Green observed in the June 29 Jewish Chronicle that Jewish voters border on masochism: “Democrats will tax them and use quotas to exclude their children from the best universities.”
The Jewish Virtual Library chronicles this group’s impact on presidential elections since Democrat Woodrow Wilson defeated Republican Charles Evans Hughes in 1916: “American Jews tend to favor Democratic candidates, with 71% of Jewish voters choosing Democratic candidates on average and 26% choosing Republicans since 1968.”
Democrats take Jews for granted, as they do blacks and Hispanics. Since Jews overwhelmingly vote for them, Democrats snag their political donations, stiff them frequently, and smack them around occasionally, just to show them who’s their daddy.
This has remained the case, even after Jews sat atop the world under Republican President Donald J. Trump, the most pro-Israel chief executive since at least Democrat Harry S. Truman.
Israel and the Jews were safe under Trump, despite the vicious lies about him being anti-Semitic — never mind Trump’s adoring his Orthodox Jewish daughter, Ivanka Kushner; his son-in-law, Jared Kushner; and his Orthodox Jewish grandchildren.

President Trump visited the Western Wall in a yarmulke and wedged a prayer between stones as old as the Torah. He moved the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
Trump junked Obama–Biden’s execrable Iran-nuke deal. Instead, Trump crippled the ayatollahs with a “maximum pressure campaign” of diplomatic and economic sanctions. Tehran’s oil revenues plunged to a trickle. Trump also droned Iranian terror master Qasem Soleimani. Once that uber-Jew killer was blasted into a thousand bits, his bosses got the message and cooled their jets.
Trump brokered four Abraham Accords, securing peace between Israel and its former enemies: Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and Sudan. The latter moved from the State Department’s list of state sponsors of terrorism to a treaty partner with the Jewish state. Incredible.
Now, under Joe “back to normal” Biden, Jews endured on Oct. 7 their biggest one-day death toll since the Dachau era. Since Hamas’ surprise massacre of some 1,400 Israelis, and the Israel Defense Forces’ decision to fight Hamas to the finish, anti-Semitism has exploded — at home and overseas.
Jews hesitate to wear yarmulkes and Stars of David. Who can blame them? They are justifiably terrified by Cornell history professor Russell Rickford, who told a pro-Palestine rally that Hamas’ bloodthirsty attack was “exhilarating” and “energizing.” (RELATED: ‘Exhilarated’ by Terrorism: How to Make Sense of the Far Left’s Support of Hamas)
Cornell junior Patrick Dai, 21, was arrested for assorted anti-Semitic threats. Per the U.S. Justice Department: “Dai allegedly threatened to ‘stab’ and ‘slit the throat’ of any Jewish males he sees on campus, to rape and throw off a cliff any Jewish females, and to behead any Jewish babies. In that same post, Dai threatened to ‘bring an assault rifle to campus and shoot all you pig jews.’”
On Oct. 9, just two days after Hamas’ mayhem, 1,000 demonstrators outside the Sydney Opera House shouted, “Gas the Jews!” Swastikas have popped up at pro-Hamas demonstrations — from Times Square to Pennsylvania Avenue to Irvine, California.
As a self-described liberal, Jewish academic published in Nov. 3’s Newsweek: “There is the Israeli student who was physically attacked at my workplace, Columbia University, while hanging posters of the kidnapped babies in Gaza, the Jewish students here who have been spat on, cursed at, and received death threats,” wrote assistant professor of management Shai Davidai.
“There are the student organizations who, in their support of Hamas’ actions, pounded on the doors of a library while frightened Jewish students locked the door and sheltered inside at Cooper Union in Manhattan,” Davidai continued. “There are the Jews supporting Israel who were punched and whacked at Tulane in New Orleans. There is the UC Davis professor who threatened to attack Jewish journalists and their children, ending her social media post with emojis of a knife, a hatchet, and three drops of blood. The list goes on and on.”
“I would have loved for my children to attend an incredible institution like Columbia,” Davidi added. “But not now, not under this leadership. I would be too worried for their safety. The differences between the student organizations’ chant of ‘from the river to the sea’ and the Nazi chant of ‘Germany for Germans’ are mere semantics.”
“When you look at a group that makes up 2.4 percent, roughly, of the American population, it should be jarring to everyone that that same population accounts for something like 60 percent of all religious-based hate crimes,” FBI Director Christopher Wray told the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Halloween. “They’re getting it from racially and ethnically motivated violent extremists, ISIS-inspired violent extremists [and] foreign terrorist organizations.”
Last week, Biden responded to all of this by unveiling a federal task force to combat … Islamophobia! Evidently, the best way to fight hatred of the Jews is to defend Muslims. (RELATED: Kamala Harris Tackles … Islamophobia)
Where, precisely, is this rampant Islamophobia? People have clogged Grand Central Terminal, blocked Brooklyn Bridge, and filled streets worldwide — to support Islamic Palestinians. While Jews live in fear, the White House backs those with multitudes marching on their behalf.
This is like seeing a beautiful home in flames, breathing a sigh of relief as a fire truck arrives, and then standing in shock as the firefighters hose down the front lawn.
House Democrats’ far-left “Squad” demands that Israel cease fire. This would relieve Hamas, whereupon it would plot fresh murders of innocent Jewish civilians.
The Democrat Party is ripping itself in two, between traditional Democrats and a growing Hamas wing.
Biden is leaning toward the latter. This would explain his obsession with Islamophobia and ever-louder demands that Israel “pause” its plan to erase Hamas — now for three days, Biden insists. These top Democrats worry that Muslims in Michigan will stay home a year from now and cost Biden the Wolverine State.
Today, as Americans vote in 37 states, Jews should send Joe Biden, the Squad, and other Democrats a midterm message. By spurning the party that considers Jewish votes their personal property — or by defecting and voting for the Republicans who stand with them in near-unanimity — Jewish voters could doom Democrats tonight in legislative and gubernatorial races from coast to coast.
Prominent Jewish thinkers endorse this strategy.
“Until American Jews move away from the Democrats who have no interest in their Jewish constituents or US national security and learn that voting Republican means voting for their own survival, we will continue to see the ugliness and aggressive nature of this anti-Semitism genie that will become impossible to stuff back into the bottle,” Lauri Regan, vice president of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East, told me. “This is about Western civilization. The barbarians are at the gate for all of us.”
“Among Jews not smart enough to vote against our enemies now, let’s just hope that they are scared or angry enough to object conscientiously and just not vote for the party and culture that have mainstreamed anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism,” stated Jeff Ballabon, who presciently founded Jexodus before the 2020 election. “It’s not an issue of party politics; it’s a matter of survival, literally. And it’s the only conceivable way to get the Democrats to listen.”
“The party of Harry Truman and JFK is now the party of Rashida Tlaib and her America-hating co-Jihadists,” said Joe Diamond, producer of WABC Radio’s Cop Talk program. “American Jews — and ALL Americans of good faith — must teach the Democrat Party a lesson today that it’ll never forget.”
Tomorrow morning, let Democrats ponder this Jewish fortune cookie: “You don’t have us to kick around anymore.”
